The Nottinghamshire Fungi Group is a member of the Association of British Fungus Groups (ABFG) which provides public liability insurance for our forays.

Nottingham Arboretum

In the centre of Nottingham, we will meet at the main entrance on Waverly St (the road between the Forest park-and-ride and Trent University complex) opposite the General Cemetery. If there is time we will also explore the Cemetery.
Rufford
Tuesday 28th September 2010 10am, Leader: Howard
The park is on the main Nottingham Worksop Road the A614, approximately 4 miles south of Ollerton. The car park is signed on the A614.
Clifton Woods
Saturday 9th October 2010 10am, Leader: Tony
From the Nottingham Ring road the A52, south from the Queen's Medical Centre, take the A453 (the East Midlands Airport road). After 1.5 miles just before a filling station turn right, signposted "Clifton village only". This is not an obvious junction. Continue keeping to the left eventually turning right onto Holgate. There is a car park on your right.
Gamston Woods
Tuesday 19th October 2010 10am, Leader: Howard
From Retford take the A638 south for about 1.5 miles and at Eaton take the minor road to your left (to Upton & East Drayton). After about 1 mile cross over the railway bridge. Continue for 0.25 miles then park down the rough track on your right at the sharp corner (SK726772) between Eaton and Gamston Woods.
From Nottingham take the A614. Keep to the A614 until 2-3 miles past the Ollerton Roundabout and at the minor crossroads (roundabout) turn right to and through Bothamsall village and turn left onto the B6387. Continue to and through Gamston village, then turn left onto the A638 going north towards Retford. About a mile further on take the right hand turn at Eaton onto the minor road (to Upton & East Drayton). From here follow instructions in the first paragraph.
Try not to park on any grass verges, as some of them are protected wildflower sites.
Spalford Warren

This site belongs to the Notts Wildlife Trust . The reserve lies to the east of the A1133 Newark to Gainsborough road, about halfway between the minor roads to Girton and Spalford. GR SK827678
Portland Park

From Nottingham take the A60 north to Mansfield, at the top of the first hill in Mansfield is a set of lights take a left to Kirkby on the A611. Go through the next 2 sets of lights but right at the third set. Follow Diamond Avenue down into Kirkby in Ashfield through the shopping centre - still going down hill - then you should see a brown sign pointing left to PORTLAND PARK. Drive through the houses keeping as straight as possible - don't turn right to the show house! Under an old railway bridge past a field, bear right and turn right into the car park.
From the north take the A60 through Mansfield past the old part of the cemetery. At the lights at the top of the hill turn right on to the A611. Continue as above.
Kirton Wood
Sunday 14th November 2010 10am, Leader: Howard
This is a Notts Wildlife Trust site. From Nottingham take the A 614 to the Ollerton roundabout. Turn right and pass through Ollerton, Boughton and Kirton on the A 6075. Just after leaving Kirton turn right for Egmanton. At the top of the hill there is a track on the right signed Kirton Woods. Follow this to the gate which should be open.
Boughton Brake

From Nottingham take A614 past Ollerton. Take the next right to Walesby after the Ollerton roundabout, over a humped bridge and on the second sharp bend turn right.After few hundred yards take the tarmac track on the left and park at the end next to rocks.
From Worksop take the A57 east to the A614/A1 junction, take the A614 towards Nottingham. Straight over the Thoresby roundabout continue for about 2 miles turn left to Walesby, over humped bridge and then as above.
Fox Covert

There is no direct access to this from the A614. From the north the easiest approach is to take the A6097 Oxton road at the Warren hill roundabout on the A614.Turn right at the Oxton roundabout and after 2 miles right again into a road signed as being closed ahead. There is a car park next to two "Road ahead closed" signs.
From the south turn first right from the A614 after the main roundabout at Redhill. Take the first left after the Golf course. Car parking as above.
Lunch at the Gleaners Pub in Calverton after the Foray.
